NO rest for the wicked

The wheels just keep on turning in this little Jinxy head of mine.  With the rise of “The Queen” now in full swing, it’s time to continue raising the bar creatively.  I’m steppin’ up my A-Game with some serious future acts in store that are guaranteed to be richer and more in-depth than the last.  I’ll continue having a high standard for aesthetic, costuming, & choreography as well.  In a nutshell: I’m getting’ too legit, too legit to quit (hey, hey!)

I’ve got a NEW act in the works and I wanted to share a taste of the inspiration behind it all! It will be a combination of things that comprise a story based on the humanizing and rebirth of “The Siren”.  Now you’ll get the whole story about Siren Jinx and who she really is…

I’ve been slacking lately…not to say I haven’t been thinking ’bout you all, but the blog has definitely been neglected. Time to get back on it…miss me much?

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but a few things have changed in the recent months for Miz Siren Jinx.  I’m STILL performing burlesque like it’s my job; however I AM sporting a new hairdo and some VERY zexy new pics (thanks to John Abbott!).  I’ve also been playing the role of MC for hot gigs around town…

AND I’m taking a stab at producing!  That’s right, ME…in charge of “stuff”…nervous yet?  As Goddamn terrifying as the notion may be don’t worry TOO much b/c I’ve got a partner in crime; I’m co-producing with my gurrrrl Jolie Roberson of Skirtfulloffire.com.  We call ourselves: Curiouser&Curiouser.

C&C is currently doing more cabaret theatrical performances featuring acts like Dizzy Lizzy, Lady Jack, & Kelsey Huff, to name a few. However, we’re now in the midst of trying to redefine & recreate ourselves on a much more relevant level. The idea (in a nutshell): Theatre meets “new hotness”.  We’re still picking through the details. Once we have things more fleshed out…You’ll be the first to know!  Keep a look out for us via Twitter, we’re CabaretCurious.  We’re also gonna have a butt ton of vidz coming out on the regular so stay tuned for that MAGIC on Youtube, look for CuriouserProductions!

Jimmy Buffett can suck a nut. I can get down with a lot of what he represents…gettin’ drunk, screwin’, and being goddamn lazy all day, but his music seriously blows.

What kinda music would yah call his shit anyway? Pop? Country? Trop Rock? Whatever the right “genre” Jimmy Buffet has a special place in my “suck trunk” right along with Creed, Evanescence, and Kelly Clarkson.

So I attended a Swingers “meet n’ greet” this weekend. I wouldn’t say I’m a “swinger”, but when someone gives you the opportunity to attend a shindig like this…you gotta! Duh!

You essentially have a bunch of swingin’ peeps payin’ a cover to attend a party where they can meet other swingin’ peeps…simple enough right? Isn’t that how “meet and greets” are supposed to work? It wasn’t any different from a normal party per say…except…the ambiance and over all vibage. There was a definite sexual pulse that was bigger than a usual house party. I gotta say… it was fuuuun! People look at you differently, the men and the women…it’s enticing as they try to figure you out. Give you the once over; everyone’s feelers are on high. If we had tentacles they’d be outstretched wiggling about the room; our little suction cups pulsating…

So here’s a ditty (or a few)…how many of you who are not official “swingers”, ever been curious @ possibility of swinging? Ever had any thoughts of introducing other people into your relationship mix? Have you ever had or at least considered having a threesome? Ever imagined what it might be like?

While @ the party it got me all thinky…I started mulling ideas over in my little brain…monogamy & polygamy… what are people into these days…really?

…Hrrrmmmm…personally, to me? I think peeps are polygamous (*gasp!!!* I know…Shocking!!!)

As “dignified” (or whatever) as we’d like to think we are…psssht we’re still just animals (yeah…I’m goin’ there). Animals with basic needz n’ instincts: food, shelter, procreation…the end. Tho, even with our instinctual basics what differentiates us from any other mammal is our ability to make “choices”. Hey, if you wanna be in a monogamous relationship the rest of yo life, do the damn thing. If you’re a lil’ relationship ADD and wanna go to a swingers meet n’ greet, ain’t no shame; I salute you!

After the party, I’ve been hitting my friends up for thoughts on the matter. I can’t tell you how many people have told me that women are the ones more inclined to wanna be “monogamous” while men are “polygamous”…Sure, I can see it, men are the hunters, they gotta go out n’ spread the seed etc, but yah know what I say to that?

Meh.

It’s a valid opinion and I think there is definitely some truth there, no doubt, but I know PLENTY of very sexually aggressive women who are NOT interested in monogamy and who are spreading MORE than their fare share of “seeds” (nudge, nudge…wink, wink). In fact most of the aggressors at this “meet n’ greet” were women! So put that in yo dick n’ smoke it.

I personally think it’s all based on the individual and what they feel comfortable “sharing” or not sharing. Plain n’ simple. You can analyze ALL you want, but when push comes to shove, YOU like what you like. And you have that ability to choose.

Sometimes you get two people who click and wanna spend the rest of their lives together. They might swing…they might not.

Sometimes, the idea of being with one person the rest of your life literally makes you vomitously ill; so you chose a more polygamous route…sweet.

WTF iz burlesque?

Pssssht…I don’t even know how to begin to crack the surface of such a broad question. Well, like with anything, it’s prob best to start at the beginning right? Ok…here goes…

You’d be surprised how many people don’t know the literal definition of what “Burlesque” means. If someone asked you right now, could you tell them? If they said “hey, tell me in 1-2 sentences what burlesque means…” I bet you’d have a difficult time tryin’. Am I right? Well, here…lemme help!

The werd Burlesque in a nutshell means “in an upside down style”. A burlesque will usually over exaggerate a popular social topic making it a parody of it’s self. The parody can be humorous or grotesque. The performance is usually live n’ can be done in a multitude of ways…most of us are familiar with the “strip” element. It doesn’t always have to be this way, but that’s what most of us associate with burlesque….

Za Boobiez!!

I’m not gonna lie, the common use of that word is NOT my favzie. I feel like it demeans the artistic integrity behind what I am doin’ as a performer…but here’s the thing… Boobiez ARE funny. And if that’s yer whole “gimmick”, as a performer or producer…ain’t no shame right (I can get down with that)?

However boobiez are the least of my worries…

We’re now getting into hybrids of burlesque that include elements from the world of fetish, cirque, performance art etc…which is muthafuggin awesome! It starts to make the world of burlesque so much more colorful and interesting, BUT when you start to mix…things can get muddled n’ unclear as to what is truly being performed. I’ve been to too many shows lately that have been deemed “burlesque”…when it’s clearly NOT a burlesque show. Just cuz you’re wearin’ pasties whilst you whip and dominate doesn’t necessarily mean you’re now a burlesque performer, there’s more to it than meets the eye. Hate to break it to yah, but pasties are not the only thing that make burlesque, burlesque! Try again…

Burlesque is becoming a “thing”. The community, the artistry, and the complexity have grown tremendously…and continue to do so. Burlesque was not always considered “socially acceptable”; people never took the time to understand just how layered this art form can be. I can safely say I was one of those people for quite some time. But I think as it becomes more socially acceptable people will have a better idea about what burlesque actually is.

Over the next couple of blogs, I’m gonna continue to talk about burlesque and what it means to be a burlesque performer. You ready? Buckle your seatbelts kidz, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride!

Apparently I’m creating my own language up in here.  Which is purrrdy merch a big ol’ lie b/c my jive is the same ish you see when you write someone a txt message or what you read when you visit the webby “I can haz cheeseburger?” It’s all a bunch of internet hipster jargon.  But I like to add my own little flava to it; a dash of Jinx luv, if you will.

Imma educated gal, but I like to write with the comprehension of a 3rd grader…that so wrong?  When you read these blogs imma make your brain work (n’ hurt) a little bit.  Kinda like when you read Shakespeare, you have to stop n’  reread the same sentence at least 3 times before you git the gist.

Maybe I’m just so used to writing txts that can be no more than 160 characterz.  I forget that (shutup!) I CAN write full complete sentences with correct grammar n’ punctuation, but…where’s da fun in that?  Quite frankly my little fingers don’t likey dem “full” words, they’re too pretentious fer my likin’.

So…this is how I do:

Rule #1:

Abbrev wordz as often as you can.  i.e.: You=yo, the=da, text=txt, what=wut

It can be easy as taking off 1 letter from a word.  Yup, I’m dat lazy

Rule #2:

Miss spell your words so they are spelled exactly the way they sound.  ie: love=luv, do it= “do eeeeeet!”, pretty much=purrrdy merch

this iz a fun way to create diff accents n’ dialects.  A reader haz to literally sound out what you want ‘em to hear.  This way jokes can come across WAY betta.

Rule #3:

Insert any after thoughts that might come to mind.  I usually put these guys in Parenthesis’ (did I even spell dat right?)

Rule #4:

“Shock Factor.”  This iz a matter of preference n’ knowing how to read yer audience.  Are they gonna find wut you say funny? Moving? Irritating? Retarded?  You can be shocking and outlandish, but uhhhhh don’t be stupid.  Which surprisingly…a lot of people are.  Crazy no?

So there you have it!  In a nut shell the basics to writing like the Jinxter.  JinxEbonics.
